On August 14 and 15, 2021 Derby City Sailing Club, in support of Gilda’s Club Kentuckiana, presents the 19th annual Louisville Fleur De Lis Regatta – and it’s going to be better than ever! Join the fun on the Ohio River as you watch 20+ sailboats race for the trophy!

About the Regatta

In 1993 the Fleur de Lis Regatta was established and joined as a participant in the Leukemia Cup Regatta series hosted by yacht clubs nationwide. Established in 1988, with the help of noted sailing expert and ESPN commentator Gary Jobson, the Maryland Chapter of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society hosted the first Leukemia Cup Regatta in Annapolis. Enthusiam for the event spread across the country and in 1999 thirty-eight chapters participated in the National Leukemia Cup Regatta program.

The Sailing for a Cure Foundation

The Sailing for a Cure Foundation was founded in 2010 as a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization. In 2013 the Sailing for a Cure Foundation teamed up with Gilda’s Club Kentuckiana for the annual Fleur De Lis Regatta. We have raised over $127,000 for Gilda’s Club Louisville, rated Four Star by Charity Navigator. All money raised stays local.

The Fleur De Lis Regatta enables you and others to join the many sailors who have teamed up to support the mission of Gilda’s Club Kentuckiana: to ensure that all people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action and sustained by community. This year is going to be better than ever!

Gilda’s Club Kentuckiana

Gilda’s Club Kentuckiana, named in memory of Saturday Night Live’s Gilda Radner, is a place where people living with cancer – and those who love them – find strength and comfort from members sharing their experiences and wisdom with each other. Anyone touched by cancer – any type of cancer – newly diagnosed or survivor, adults, children, their families and friends, are welcome.

Gilda Radner once said, “Having cancer gave me membership in an elite club I would rather not belong to.” Many people can relate to this statement – whether they have been diagnosed with cancer or have someone close to them who has – and thanks to your help, they can continue to have a club that they are happy to be a member of.

Gilda’s Club Kentuckiana offers 100+ free events each month – support and networking groups, education, exercise, cooking and nutrition, art and social events such as book clubs, gardening, movie and game nights, seasonal parties and potlucks, and so much more.
